APPS OPEN!
APPS ARE NOW OPEN!
☢ I'll be taking them for most of the next week! Try and get them in by midnight on Friday the 27th (PST). If you squeak one in before I wake up on Saturday, I'll probably be nice and look at it anyway, but no promises!
☢ Apps will not be officially accepted until the 28th. In case of duplicates, the stronger app will be selected. Once your app is accepted, please wait until your team has been assigned and your team intro post has gone up before playing. The game will open on Sunday the 29th.
☢ I'll have world/location/map info (as well as brief descriptions of the sorts of things one can find in the laboratory to make the game more accessible to canon-blind players) up closer to the game opening.
☢ I'm sure a lot of you have questions about your characters' specific circumstances in going from a sparkling snowflake to an ordinary human (or human-ish) clone. I didn't put up a lot of guidelines on that subject specifically because I knew there'd be no way to cover all of the different scenarios, and I wanted to see what kinds of things would come up before writing up something more comprehensive. In other words, now is a good time to ask about that! COMMENT AND YE SHALL RECEIVE.
☢ ETA: ALSO BECAUSE I AM CLEARLY THE BIGGEST DERP IN THE WORLD! I am planning for this RP to last around 1-2 years (depending on pacing). There will be a plot with a beginning, middle, and end. :3c

In other words, if I apped Lafiel here, she has an extra sense that lets her see behind her (that works via a third 'eye' on her forehead). Is she just blinded in that sense? If I were to app a winged character, would his/her wings just be clipped so s/he can't fly? Or, heck, another character on my list has webbed fingers/toes and can hold her breath much longer than normal -- does her clone just have that bit of her genetic code changed so she is more like a human (and can't swim circles around everyone)?
Also, since it might come up, what about characters that are immune to alcohol*?
* ... You all are just lucky that I don't have the time to canon-review Babylon 5. Minbari are not immune to alcohol; just instead of 'drunk', they get 'berserker rage'.

An immunity to alcohol would be just fine. That's just a physiological thing.
As for Lafiel's third eye, that really is just like a sense and not a psychic power, right? Even if it may not be strictly physical. It's a little fuzzier, but I'd let it pass.
I guess a good bottom line would be to think about the clones as a power cap - superhuman fighting abilities are the ones that should be cut the hardest, and then psychic/magical powers. Other things, like genius-level abilities or senses, can be dampened or unaltered (also relevant is the thread I had with a potential Dollhouse player over here).

So there's no reason for the character to notice that they DIDN'T die.

Also, how cognizant are the characters of them being clones? Is this like James Cameron's Avatar in the sense that that they're remotely operating clone bodies, or is that something they'll have to figure out? Will memories transfer from clone to clone (i.e. are you gonna have to 'reintro' every time you die)?

That having been said, GLaDOS will be more than happy to inform everyone of their clone-iness fairly early into the game.
Memories are transferred between clones, yes. The basic idea is that their real body is off in storage somewhere, and their mind is being remotely projected. So when a clone body dies, all that does is break the connection with the still-living character.

That is also an "unless" to your previous question, though if the character didn't have their afterlife shown in canon, I think it'd be better to go the other way. That and a ghost character would have to be given a physical body anyway.

And yeah, the clones probably aren't improved versions. If they needed glasses before, they still will now. Though of course exceptions could be made for characters who would have serious playability problems otherwise.
Though it occurs to me if a character lost an eye or something, there's no reason it wouldn't grow back. Hmm, that seems like a problem for eyepatchy characters. :|a Maybe a helpful robot goes around and puts it out for them while the clones are still incubating.
